What you’ll need:

  • 1 pound ground beef, or protein of choice (we used Impossible Sausage)

  • 1 onion, finely chopped

  • 1 bell pepper, diced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 cup tomato sauce

  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 teaspoon chili powder

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Buns, or bread of your choice

  • Chacho Hot Sauce (adjust according to your spice preference)

Process

  1. Start a fire! Get some nice hot coals going.

  2. Chop your veggies while the coals are heating up.

  3. In a large dutch oven over medium heat, add the chopped onion, diced bell pepper, and minced garlic. Cook until the vegetables are tender.

  4. Add your protein and sauté until fully browned, breaking it up into crumbles.

  5. Add chili powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well to combine all the flavors.

  6. Stir in the tomato sauce.

  7. Add Worcestershire sauce.

  8. Simmer the mixture over hot coals for about 15-20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together and the sauce to thicken.

  9. For the extra kick, generously add Chacho Hot Sauce to the mix. Adjust the amount according to your spice tolerance for that perfect balance of heat.

  10. Toast the hamburger buns in the oven or over the fire until golden brown.

  11. Spoon the Spicy Sloppy Joe mixture onto the toasted buns, add sliced Jalapenos for extra heat, top with more Chacho and voila!—your fall comfort food masterpiece is ready to be devoured!
